Consultation

Improving the Arbuthnott Formula

The consultation on recommendations for change to the current Formula for resource allocation in NHSScotland has now closed. The consultation reports can be accessed in the Research section. NRAC would like to thank all those who responded to the consultation and provided feedback at the regional workshops in August and September. A report summarising the consultation responses has been prepared by George Street Research Ltd., shown below, along with a link to the individual consultation responses. The information published for each response is in line with the wishes of each respondent.

NRAC has commissioned peer reviews of the two external research reports (Technical Reports D and E) to ensure that they were fit for purpose.  The conclusions of the peer review are available via the following link.

NRAC has considered the consultation feedback along with the results of the peer review and agreed a short programme of further research to address some of the issues raised. A summary of the further work plan is shown below. This research will be used by NRAC to produce a final recommended formula to be reported to the Minister for Health and Community Care in June 2007.
